In 2024, the Château de Fontainebleau celebrates the 210th anniversary of Napoleon I's abdication. The château's Cour d'Honneur is also known as the "Cour des Adieux", because it was at the foot of its horseshoe-shaped staircase that Napoleon I bid farewell to the guard on April 20, 1814, before leaving for exile on the island of Elba.

This immersive weekend will feature military demonstrations in the château's gardens and courtyards, the installation of a Napoleonic bivouac and the staging of daily life in the early 19th century through the presence of small trades in the English garden, the re-enactment of Napoleon I's famous farewell scene to his loyal soldiers in the Cour d'Honneur, and scenes played out in the château's rooms to tell the story behind this historic moment!
