Located in the Carrousel district of Paris, the EME is home to over five centuries of equestrian and military tradition. The history of this site dates back to 1515, when François I decided to establish his hunting stables here. Over the centuries, the stables evolved to include a military infirmary, a farriery and two large riding arenas, which in 1943 became the first École Nationale d'Équitation.

Today, the school trains officers, non-commissioned officers and non-commissioned soldiers in a variety of horse-related professions (riding instructors, stable managers, rider groomers, farriers). The school also takes in young military personnel intending to pursue a career in equestrian sports, and excels in top-level competitions.

Embark on a 2-hour guided tour of Fontainebleau's equestrian history! The guided tour will tell you more about the history of this emblematic site, its importance over time and how it operates today.
