The Pays de Fontainebleau Tourist Office has launched the Arbor&Sens themed trail. A true arboretum, it allows you to discover the various tree species that make up the Fontainebleau Forest while recharging your batteries.

This 20-hectare fenced-in area is located in the heart of the forest. A trail marker system guides you along the entire 1.5 km route. Sandstone pathways embedded in the ground serve as landmarks to help you navigate safely. Signs featuring raised lettering and Braille make it easier for everyone to follow the route. It is suitable for everyone, particularly those who are visually impaired or blind.

This trail offers a chance to recharge by promoting physical and psychological well-being while engaging most of our senses: hearing, touch, sight, and smell.

It is accessible via the Gorges de Franchard or directly from Departmental Road 301 between the Touring Club intersection and the Croix de Souvray intersection.

The audio guides available on the “Forêt de Fontainebleau” app provide real-time, geolocated information. The built-in audio description service makes the forest accessible to the blind and visually impaired. At each point of interest along the trail, the phone vibrates to introduce the trees of the forest. The sounds, the actors’ voices, as well as the details and anecdotes all help spark their imagination.

To carry out this project, the ONF drew on the advice of the Valentin Haüy Association (AVH) and the Departmental Association of Parents and Friends of People with Intellectual Disabilities (Adapei).
