The Pays de Fontainebleau Tourist Office invites you to discover the Solle racecourse.

In November 1776, during the reign of Louis XVI, the Dukes of Artois and Chartres organized the first horse race in Fontainebleau, in front of the king, who had come to hunt. This first attempt was a great success. The choice of the Solle valley was made in 1852 by the chasseurs de la Garde. Garrisoned in Fontainebleau, they had cleared the area for use as a manoeuvring ground.

After their departure, youngsters would organize races here in a family atmosphere. The site being ideal, it was decided to build a racecourse. This was done in 1862. It was inaugurated by the imperial couple Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie.

Numerous horse races are held here during the season, with on-site catering available. For reservations on race morning, call 01 64 22 58 31.
