The House of the Biosphere and the Forest
The House of the Biosphere and the Forest is the only public welcome point located at the heart of the Fontainebleau Forest.
It is the living heart of the Fontainebleau-Gâtinais UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It houses the office of the Biosphere Reserve Association, which coordinates actions for conservation, awareness, and promotion of this territory, internationally recognized for the richness of its natural and cultural heritage. Acknowledged by UNESCO, the Biosphere Reserve brings together residents, associations, and institutions around a common goal: enabling humans and nature to coexist.
The House of the Biosphere and the Forest is also an information center open to everyone. Whether you are a hiker, walker, cyclist, or simply curious, you will find all the resources you need to discover and explore the Fontainebleau Forest and the Gâtinais: maps and trails, advice on protecting wildlife and plants, and ideas for activities for all ages. An on-site team is available to guide you, answer your questions, and introduce you to UNESCO’s “Man and the Biosphere” program.
Designed as a place for hospitality and encounters, the House of the Biosphere and the Forest welcomes everyone: residents, associations, and local stakeholders meet and connect here. Events, workshops, and meetings are regularly organized to bring the place to life and foster bonds around our magnificent territory.
Opening hours: Every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
