The Grand Canal at the Château de Fontainebleau will be transformed to let you relive the grand celebrations of yesteryear with activities on the water, on the lawn, and—most importantly—for the whole family!
Enjoy one of the last days of summer in this stunning setting.

The Grand Canal Takes Center Stage:
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Grand Canal will become the beating heart of the festivities. Hop aboard a pedal boat for a leisurely ride on the water. Lovers of tradition can also watch the impressive Saint-Mammès water jousts, a spectacle blending skill, folklore, and competitive spirit that has been carried on since 1884.

All in the Name of Music
At 2:30 p.m. and again at 6 p.m., the theatrical marching band Les Grooms will pop up around the corners of the Grand Canal’s alleys with their offbeat, funny, and poetic performances. Les Grooms have become masters of artistic deception with “the baron,” a traditional figure from fairground and street theater, where an accomplice hidden in the crowd never reveals his true identity.

      Family Fun
Designed to bring together all generations, this day—which begins at 10 a.m.—will feature numerous activities. During your badminton lesson, don’t let yourself be captivated by the magic of the kites…
Watch them twirl in the air before trying your hand at making your own! Rediscover the spirit of days gone by with authentic 1930s swings, pushed by parents. For thrill-seekers, a giant airbag allows for safe jumps (for ages 6 and up).

      Something to eat
Finally, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., it’s time for the big open-air picnic! Bring your own picnic, or enjoy the various food trucks, and settle in comfortably by the water. To make this fun-filled evening even more special, put on your best outfit—sticking to the “white and gold” dress code—and feel free to dance to the music of the Sunny Side Quintet.
