A brief history of this historic site on the Seine.

Valvins-les-Bains, as it was known in the 19th century, was a popular destination for travelers. It was renowned for its magnificent scenery, which could be admired from small boats and sailboats, while enjoying a swim. This environment was particularly attractive to artists, who found it an inexhaustible source of inspiration thanks to its poetic atmosphere.

Over the years, the reputation of Valvins-les-Bains grew, leading to the development of numerous hotels, restaurants and second homes.

Today, the marina's refurbished pontoons bear the names of artists who were fascinated by the place, starting with Stéphane Mallarmé, who lived nearby. He used to invite his friends and sail on the Seine in his sailboat.

Cultural panels now allow visitors to discover the testimonies and memories of illustrious personalities such as Julie Manet, Berthe Morisot, Claude Debussy, Paul Valéry and James Abbott McNeill Whistler.

The Valvins marina, Valvins-les-Bains, is now a haven of peace for relaxation and escape.

During your stopover, take the opportunity to discover the charming villages along the Seine, between Samois-sur-Seine, Samoreau, Héricy, Vulaines-sur-Seine, Bois-le-Roi, Chartrettes and Avon, bathed in the blue of the Pays de Fontainebleau. These serene spots have preserved their holiday spirit, with magnificent stone mansions, flower-filled gardens and village squares.

New restaurants and cafés have sprung up in these peaceful surroundings, allowing visitors and the many cyclists on the Scandiberique to enjoy these unique atmospheres, as in Samois-sur-Seine, Héricy and Vulaines-sur-Seine.
