With just under 1,000 hives, Délices de la Ruche - their brand name - harvests different varieties of honey, including classic honeys such as flower or acacia honey, and rarer ones such as linden and alfalfa honey. To obtain this variety of honey, the hives are moved according to the flowering season. This is known as transhumance.
As beekeepers, they also make gingerbread, honey cakes and honey sweets in a variety of flavors (lemon, tangerine, mint, eucalyptus, pine sap and thyme). You'll also find mead, wax, candles, encaustic and nougat for sale.
The Hamette family remain close to their customers, selling all these products directly at the Fontainebleau market (Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays) and at their boutique at 72 rue du Général de Gaulle in Bourron-Marlotte.
