As the living heart of the UNESCO Fontainebleau-Gâtinais Biosphere Reserve, it houses the offices of the Biosphere Reserve Association, which coordinates actions to preserve, raise awareness of and promote this territory, internationally recognized for the richness of its natural and cultural heritage.

Recognized by UNESCO, the Biosphere Reserve brings together local residents, associations and institutions around a common goal: the cohabitation of man and nature.

But the Maison de la Biosphère et de la Forêt is more than just an administrative office: it's also an information center open to all.
Whether you're a hiker, walker, cyclist or simply curious, you'll find all the resources you need to discover and explore the forest of Fontainebleau and the Gâtinais: maps and itineraries, advice on how to respect the flora and fauna, and ideas for activities for all ages...
The on-site team will be on hand to guide you, answer your questions and help you discover UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere program.

Last but not least, the Biosphere and Forest House is designed as a meeting place. It's everyone's home: residents, associations and local players meet and mingle. Events, workshops and meetings are organized on a regular basis to bring this place to life and create links around our magnificent territory.
