On the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, Barbizon invites lovers of plants, nature and biodiversity to come together in the festive setting of "BARBIZON, Fête des Parcs & Jardins". After last year's 2nd edition of 12,000, this year's event will take place over two days.

Nursery gardeners, landscape gardeners, associations, producers of regional products, artists and craftsmen are all invited.
Conferences, workshops and guided tours are offered to the general public. The town hall park is set up for the occasion.

This event, organized by Barbizon town hall in the main street of the Seine-et-Marne painters' village, as well as in private and public places, is aimed at the general public and offers a new perspective on this typical Gâtinais tourist village in the Ile-de-France region.

      2024 theme: "Browse the Tree
The theme of this 3rd edition, borrowed from a poem by Andrée Chedid, invites us to become aware of the benefits of trees, as well as the need to protect them, at a time when more and more species are threatened by climate change.

Workshops and events will be held over the two days. Philippe Boiron of Appel des Forêts, a tree-climbing educator, will give the public (aged 6 and over) the opportunity to "get to know" a ten-metre oak tree.
Maxime Fauqueur, vice-president of the A.R.B.R.E.S. association, will offer an identification workshop followed by a tree reconnaissance in the Fontainebleau forest. A workshop on permaculture and composting will be held to inform both urban and rural dwellers.
Barbizon-born Céline Rivier, chef and creator of the blog Les Pépites de noisette, will be offering a culinary workshop for children and adults, featuring quick and easy recipes using local produce.

      Two conferences:
      - on Saturday afternoon, Hugues Peuvergne, landscape gardener and author of Cabanes de jardin and Carnet de travail d'un jardinier paysagiste, published by Ulmer, will discuss the principles of tree house construction.
      - On Sunday afternoon, Georges Feterman, professor of natural sciences, author of numerous books on trees and president of the Association A.R.B.R.E.S., will give a lecture, followed by a discussion after the screening of the documentary Arbres et forêts remarquables. Un univers à explorer, co-written with Jean-Pierre Duval.

On the occasion of the Barbizon Parks and Gardens Festival, the new Association des commerçants du village will set up an ephemeral bar (supplied by Barbizon merchants) in the town hall park.
