Located near Arnhem, some 100 km east of Amsterdam, Ooesterbeek was the first Dutch artists' colony. With the desire to leave behind the academic school and consider nature as a true source of inspiration, painters found their inspiration in the varied, relief-like landscapes, almost atypical for the Veluwezoom Netherlands.
