Bouldering is one of the three disciplines of climbing present at the Olympic Games. It consists of climbing a low passage without rope or harness.

The forest of Fontainebleau is the cradle of this discipline, the rocks that make it up began to interest mountaineers and then climbers in the early 1900s.
