Route Fontainebleau-Barbizon, by bike
The Pays de Fontainebleau Tourist Office invites you to discover the Fontainebleau-Barbizon soft link known as "FB", a signposted and landscaped walk that can be explored by bike or on foot under the trees!
4 place de la République
77300 Fontainebleau
77300 Fontainebleau
The starting point is at La Faisanderie (at the end of Route de l'Ermitage) or next to the Fontainebleau cemetery (connected to the soft link from Fontainebleau-Avon station to the Grand Parquet).
For the Faisanderie, at the crossroads with the cockerel, turn right along the ONF perimeter wall, and follow the white letters "FB".
This is an ideal route for the whole family, as it's easy to get to, and you won't come across any cars except when crossing the D301 and on the route de la Gorge aux Néfliers. From the Faisanderie onwards, it's entirely in woodland.
You'll cross the Gorges d'Apremont, famous for its rocky outcrops, with a beautiful view over the forest. At the finish line, you can admire the famous "allée aux vaches", set down your bikes and follow the Barbizon painters' trail. It's also an opportunity to discover the Barbizon painters' village and visit the Musée des peintres de l'Ecole de Barbizon, the Musée atelier Millet or the Musée de l'esquisse. You can also enjoy a meal in one of the village's many restaurants and cafés.
On the way back, you can also take advantage of the picnic tables at La Faisanderie, and enjoy the restaurants and cafés of Fontainebleau or visit the Château de Fontainebleau if you haven't already done so!
